LW: Linda Robson compares covid to a wartorn country
Linda Robson has sparked backlash after comparing living in lockdown during the coronavirus pandemic to a “war-torn country” on Wednesday’s Loose Women as she defended Boris Johnson.
The Birds of a Feather actress said of the pandemic: “I feel a bit sorry for Boris because it was one of those things which you could never, ever, foresee happening.
“Overnight our whole lives changed, didn’t they? And who would know what to do about the vaccine or whatever?
“My daughter’s dad was in hospital at the time and I wasn’t allowed to go and visit him. It affected so many people.”
Linda continued: “It was like a war-torn country, wasn’t it? It was like we were all in lockdown in our shelters, like during the war. No cars on the street, no planes in the sky.

“No one could go and see their loved ones. But who could see that happening?”
Linda’s comparison between lockdown in England and living in a war-torn country touched a nerve with viewers who took to social media to voice their anger towards her remark.
Danielle Johnson tweeted: “I can’t believe Linda compared 2020 covid UK to war-torn countries ffs #LooseWomen.”
Sara added: “Of course, Linda feels sorry for Boris Johnson.”

Lyndsey shared: “Linda saying she feels sorry for Boris. Thousands died because of his ineptitude and incompetence. His job was to protect the citizens he was elected to serve and he failed. #loosewomen.”
Adi Carter penned: “Happened to see five minutes of Loose Women, watching them defend Boris Johnson and this government for their actions during Covid was pretty sickening.”
Meanwhile, Becky said: “@loosewomen completely agree with the panel. This enquiry is a waste of time. Move on people and stop looking for blame!”
Johnson was the Prime Minister between 2019 and 2022 – he resigned last September following an array of scandals which included reports he had been at gatherings in Downing Street in 2020 and 2021.
During his two-day probe, Johnson said he tried his “level best” before he admitted to making mistakes during the pandemic.
When he apologised to the nation on Wednesday morning, it was interrupted by four people who were kicked out of the room after staging a protest.
Loose Women airs on weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV and ITVX.
