Lorraine admits to Dawn French she used to swim in raw sewage in grim confession

Lorraine Kelly stunned fans after telling guest Dawn French she used to swim in raw sewage when she was younger.

The TV host made the grim admission on Thursday's edition of Lorraine.

During the chat Dawn, 63, admitted she discovered a lot about her best friend Jennifer Saunders during lockdown.

The pals teamed up on a new podcast called French and Saunders: Titting About in which they simply gossiped about their lives.

"I think I know her better thane everyone but I found out a lot about her that I didn't know, Dawn said.

"It was mainly stuff about her childhood, I knew her dad but for example she told me she used to swim in raw sewage as kid."

Looking shocked, Lorraine burst out laughing before admitting she also used to swim in similar circumstances.

Lorraine chuckled: "Oh I used to do that when I was a wee baby.

"Oh thank you, you have brought back memories."

Laughing she added: "I am never not well so it probably has helped my immune system."

Talking about the upcoming Christmas specials of The Vicar of Dibley, Dawn confirmed there all be a tribute to the late Emma Chambers who played Alice Tinker on the show.

Chambers died of a heart attack in 2018 when she was just 53-years-old.

Dawn said: "There is a eulogy of Alice which wasn't easy for me to film but it was important to.

"We do have Hugo who was Alice's husband and there is lovely moment when tell him a joke and fingers crossed he might get it."

Giving more detail about the upcoming shows, Dawn continued: "We asked ourselves what would we be doing in the lockdown.

"We thought she would we be on the webcam and talking to the locals.

"We have nine shorts where through the power of zoom she is talking to everyone.

"She is giving sermons and news letters."
