Love Island 2021 star Tyler Cruickshank has revealed some behind the scenes secrets from the show, including that contestants were “told off” for using accents or certain words.
Tyler, 27, appeared on the 2021 series of the ITV show, where he was coupled up with Kaz Kamwi and finished the series in fourth place.
Speaking about some of the secrets of the villa from his time on the show, Tyler revealed that certain things were banned and any transgressions from the rules would result in contestants getting “told off” by producers.
The former estate agent explained: “When we were saying things in there we would get told off quite a lot because they weren't politically correct.
"Like you can't say 'Chinese whispers' like, I get it but it's something that would slip out of your mouth. You then get called to the beach hut and get told off.
"You can't say the C-word either."
He continued to the Daily Star: "That was about it but you had to be careful in there. You can't do accents either. I was trying to use the French accent and I wasn't very good which is probably why they told me off."
The star previously chatted exclusively with OK! about the brand new set of singletons currently mingling in the villa this year.
He said: "Recouplings are sprung on you but the speeches are always quite easy because it is how you're feeling.
"If you're with someone and you do like them then it's really easy to say what you like about them. It's all natural!"
Tyler and ex-girlfriend Kaz Kamwi – placed in fourth in the much-loved dating show – experienced quite the emotional rollercoaster during their time in the villa.
Along with fellow newcomers Georgia Townend and Abigail Rawlings, Tyler entered the Majorcan villa as a bombshell, stirring things up for the original contestants, particularly fashion influencer Kaz, who he quickly took a liking to.
After the pair coupled up, Casa Amor hit, seeing Tyler choose to recouple with Clarisse Juliette and Kaz with Matthew MacNabb.
Despite this, the lovebirds found their way back to one another, making it all the way to the finale before calling time on their relationship just months after returning home.
Estate agent-turned social media influencer Tyler let us in on how he prepared himself to enter the villa last summer: "I just hit the gym and made sure my body was ready. I've always been into the gym and I wanted to get back into the gym so it was a good time for me to do it.
"Your life changes so much, you have to be mentally prepared for what comes after."
Tyler also told OK! that he's enjoying witnessing the heated rows between the Islanders from the comfort of his living room sofa, as opposed to being involved in them.
"I think the Islanders are good. I think it's quite spicy, the arguments and stuff that's going on. They all seem like they have great personalities."
He added: "I think any of the girls would have suited perfectly on my season."
