ITV viewers were left cringing after My Mum, Your Dad contestants were seen performing lewd acts on each other as their kids watched on in secret.

As the singletons continued to get to know each other under the hidden instruction of their own offspring, the couples forming connections paid a visit to a therapist where they attempted to open their physical boundaries to one another.

The therapist was seen encouraging some physical interactions, as many of the contestants admitted it had been “years” since they were intimate with another person.

Moments later they were seen sharing and sucking on an ice cube together.

Another couple was seen licking a chocolate finger and rubbing it on their neck before licking it off.

The offspring naturally hid behind their pillows and squealed with embarrassment as fans at home shared their pain.

“those poor children behind pillows, so so so funny!! Taking cringe to another level…….HILARIOUS!!! Licking the chocolate finger was a different league of squirm I love this programme,” said one fan.

“Loool I feel like I’m watching my own parents and it’s making me cringe but laugh at the same time” penned a second, while a third added: “This touchy-feely stuff is making me cringe so much. How those kids must feel.”

The ITV show was teased as a version of Love Island for "mid-life single parents” with the contestants having no idea their children were watching from a separate studio, fully involved in the decisions about who they should be paired with.

Host Davina McCall said she had "manifested" the show into existence and had "begged [television] bosses" to give her the role of presenter, adding that she made it happen and "willed there to be an amazing new dating programme for grown-ups."

She described the cast as "people who have lived a life, been through experiences […] They've got luggage but they deserve love."
