Wellmania: Celeste Barber stars in trailer for Netflix series
A Netflix comedy-drama has been axed and its star has taken to social media to rage at fans.
Wellmania made its big debut in March 2023 on Netflix, starring Australian comedian Celeste Barber as wild New York food critic Liv who has a major health scare.
This forces her to take a look at her “live fast, die young” approach to life, throwing herself into a wellness journey to try and improve her lifestyle.
Wellmania, which had just one season, received critical acclaim with many excited to see what direction Liv’s life would take next.
Sadly, Netflix has decided to axe Wellmania so there won’t be a season two on the horizon, disappointing fans and actress Barber.

Taking to Instagram, the star behind Liv posted a video sharing her reaction to the upsetting news.
“I just wanted to check in and give you a little update to let you know that Wellmania will not be renewed for another season”, she said.
“I understand that in the grand scheme of things, with what is going on in the world at the moment, who f*****g cares?
“But a lot of you do care. A lot of you are still asking me about it.
“We found out yesterday that it’s not going to be renewed. Netflix says it’s something about numbers.”

She continued: “Sure, I thought it smashed it, but I don’t understand how it works.
“I’m bummed that I can no longer explore that excellent character of Liv Healy, and I know a lot of you have said to me that you saw yourselves in that character and wanted to see more of her. But this industry is kind of b******t.”
Fans flocked to the comments section in support of Barber, with many sharing their own disappointment and surprise.
A viewer wrote: “One of the best series I watched. I’m so f*****g mad.
“Total b******t. You did smash it and you are amazing. Hope you get lots of great characters.”
Another said: “So we get to watch trash reality shows that are stupid and insulting to our intelligence…but your show, smart, thoughtful….gets canceled. Doesn’t make sense.”
While a third took the extra step and actually deleted their Netflix account in response.
They commented: “Done. If they can’t support creators that make a difference, I won’t pay them.”
Wellmania is available to watch on Netflix.
