Paddy McGuinness slammed as fans spot lack of support for Christine on The Games

Paddy McGuinness has been slammed by fans for not publicly supporting his wife Christine McGuinness' recent appearance on The Games.

The 34-year-old model appeared on the ITV sports show earlier this month.

Facing off against stars including Love Island alum Olivia Attwood and songwriter Chelcee Grimes, Christine finished last in the women's competition.

The mother-of-three, who had previously revealed she was autistic, was diagnosed with ADHD earlier this month.

As Christine took on new challenges such as learning to swim and throwing the javelin, fans noticed her 48-year-old husband had remained largely silent on his wife's participation in the programme.

While posting to social media during Christine's time on the series, the Top Gear host failed to mention his wife's efforts in any of his Instagram posts or wish her good luck.

He also failed to turn up to any of the show's live or prerecorded events, unlike the famous loved ones of Christine's fellow The Games stars.

A source told The Sun: "It was noted Paddy stayed silent about how well she was doing.

"Some thought it a bit odd.

"Many of the other contestants had family visiting the London grounds and cheering them on from the side."

During the week-long competition, Spice Girl Mel B turned up at the Crystal Palace stadium to support her daughter Phoenix Chi Gulzar.

A heavily pregnant Lucy Mecklenburgh also attended in support of her fiancé Ryan Thomas.

Former Strictly Come Dancing star Kevin Clifton was supported by his presenter girlfriend Stacey Dooley during the swim events, while Love Island stars Wes Nelson and Olivia Attwood were cheered on by their respective partners Lucciana Beynon and Bradley Dack.

Fans also picked up on Paddy's lack of public support for Christine during the series.

Posting to Instagram, one fan queried: "How come you aren't posting about how amazing @christinemcguinness is doing?"

During the programme, Christine repeatedly said she was participating on behalf of her children and told presenter Alex Scott that they would be watching and cheering her on from home.

Christine and Paddy married in 2011 and share three children – eight-year-old twins Felicity and Leo, and daughter Penelope, 6.
