Richard Madeley awkwardly swerves mentioning James Haskell’s split with daughter Chloe on Good Morning Britain | The Sun

RICHARD Madeley swerved mentioning his daughter Chloe's split from James Haskell on today's Good Morning Britain.

We exclusively revealed on Saturday how fitness pro Chloe, 36, and her ex-England rugby international James, 37, had confirmed their marriage is over.

The split continued to make headlines yesterday and, usually, a big separation story in the world of entertainment would receive a mention on ITV's flagship daytime show – but that wasn't the case today.

That is likely, in part, to be down to major global stories such as the ongoing conflict in Gaza and the tragic death of Friends star Matthew Perry in LA.

The show also had an interview with Rebecca Loos, who spoke about her alleged affair with David Beckham two decades ago in light of the ex-footballer's new Netflix documentary.

One viewer wrote on X: "Did anyone ask dad @richardmadeley1 about daughter @chloemadeley marriage. I would be more interested in hearing about that, considering he always tears into Meghan and is a hater. Also Richard had many affairs, before marrying Judy. Hardly the right person to talk affairs."

Yesterday details of Richard and son-in-law James's rocky relationship re-emerged in light of the split, which was confirmed in a joint statement.

It read: “James and I mutually decided separate at the end of September, 2023.

“We had not planned on releasing a statement at this time – certainly not while the television show was airing – but constant speculation about our marriage has, unfortunately, forced our hand.

“Beyond this statement, we will not be speaking about this matter publicly, and we would request privacy at this time.

“Our sole focus now is our beautiful daughter. We shall continue to co-parent with nothing but love.”

James and Richard previously had a bust up on Boxing Day when the TV show host swore at the sportsman for bothering him in the kitchen.

The former rugby player revealed that his stepdad has a bit of a temper when cooking under stress.

He told Andi Peters and Josie Gibson on This Morning that harsh words were exchanged when he spent the festive period with his wife's family.

He said: "Christmas was good. This year he wasn’t allowed to cook because first time I met him I got invited over on Boxing Day. I was told he can be a little bit tricky in the kitchen, don’t go in there.

"Of course that was a red rag to a bull, son-in-law wanting to make a good impression.

"I went in there and gave him a bit of chat. He used one of those ‘f’ words and I quickly went back to my wife and said ‘I probably need to go, your father has just told me to go away’."

Recently tensions escalated between the family members as James was seen chatting to another woman on a night out at the Chiltern Firehouse.

Since then Chloe, 36, was spotted out and about without her wedding ring on.

An insider source told OK! Magazine that Richard is unhappy with his son-in-law and it seems like the pair might have another bust up on the books.
