Richard Madeley pulled out of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! after a hospital dash meant he left his Covid bubble for the ITV series. Not wanting to put his fellow campmates at risk, it was decided the guest Good Morning Britain presenter could not return to Gwrych Castle. Now it has been revealed he is “too ill” to be able to return to Good Morning Britain next week but his co-stars are hopeful they can speak to him soon.

Speaking on GMB on Friday morning, Ben Shephard updated viewers: “Apparently we’ll be talking to him on Monday.

“Maybe we won’t. We’re hearing he’s too ill. Okay, hopefully we’ll talk to Richard on Monday.”

Entertainment reporter Richard Arnold added he was unsure if he’d be paid his £200,000 salary for heading into the castle.

Ben went on to add it was “such a shame” to see Richard forced to leave the reality series.

While other campmates including Arlene Phillips and Naughty Boy thought about leaving the castle, the journalist convinced them to stay.

Ben remarked: ““It was short and sweet.

“It’s such a shame because Richard was the person who was trying to persuade the others not to leave and all of a sudden, he’s gone.

“It sounds like it was a bit of a Covid-19 protocol issue, he broke the bubble to go to hospital and then couldn’t go back in.

“I feel like someone’s made a bit of a mistake there. It’s such a shame though because he’s already been such an integral part of the show.”

Sharing an update on her father, Chloe Madeley revealed he was “livid” he had to leave so early on.

She posted on Instagram: “Thanks for all your lovely messages. Dad’s absolutely fine, we’ve been speaking to him all day and ultimately, he’s just livid he can’t go back into camp because of Covid restrictions.

“He did himself proud, though.

“He worked hard and was his calm, collected, kind and funny self. We are so proud.”

While Richard was taken out of the castle, Adam Woodyatt and Simon Gregson made their entrance on Thursday evening.

After taking on a Bushtucker Trial together, they were pronounced Lords of the Castle and are unable to cook, clean or complete any other camp chores.

Meanwhile, it seem Arlene has fallen out of favour with viewers as she is favourite to be voted out of the castle first.

Bookmakers Ladbrokes have revealed the latest elimination odds and it’s the Strictly star who leads the way by some distance to leave the camp first at odds of 6/4.

Elsewhere, Naughty Boy’s odds of getting the boot have been cut overnight from 6/1 to just 11/2.

Meanwhile, David Ginola, Simon Gregson and Frankie Bridge are the safest celebs in the castle at this point, at 33/1 apiece to leave first.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Arlene Phillips is one of the least popular picks with punters to win this year’s I’m A Celebrity; it’s no surprise she’s priced so short to be sent home first.”

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! airs nightly on ITV at 9pm.
