RUTH Langsford broke down in tears and said she "felt like her heart had been ripped out" in a new interview.
The Loose Women star, 63, grew emotional reflecting on son Jack's departure from the family home to go to university.

Clutching a tissue and with tears in her eyes, Ruth told Hello!: "That first week of not having him at home literally felt like part of my heart ripped out.
"I kept his bedroom door shut.
"I remember coming into his bedroom and crying and getting hold of the pillow, and I could smell him on the pillow, and had a good old cry, and then shutting the door and then that first week was horrendous because I was just so used to having him around."
Blue Peter legend Katy Hill commented: "Oh my goodness! Eldest off to uni in September and you’ve set me off @ruthlangsford! I feel you xxx."

Jack, who studied broadcast journalism at Salford University, turned 21 earlier this year and was spoiled by his parents on his special day.
He posed in front of his many birthday balloons with mum Ruth on one side and dad Eamonn Holmes on the other.

Ruth wrote: “A wonderful weekend spent celebrating our son Jack’s 21st birthday… where did those years go?!!! Had to do my birthday table of course… it’s family tradition.”
In a second photo Ruth planted a kiss on his cheek as they sat down at a restaurant.
She joked: “Never too old for a kiss from your mummy."
