Ray Parry (played by Neil Brown Jr.) has a tough road ahead in the remaining episodes of SEAL Team season five and beyond. Although his relationship with his wife Naima (Parisa Fakhri) has never been stronger, the CBS and, now, Paramount+ drama could still have some challenges in store.
Neil has teased more struggles for Bravo Team’s Chief Warrant Officer Ray for the rest of SEAL Team season five.
This season saw Ray embracing his Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and opening up to both his team and wife Naima about his mental health.
However, the officer is still in the middle of his healing process, and may not ever fully recover from his trauma.
In a new behind-the-scenes interview on the Paramount show’s official Instagram page, Neil hinted his personal troubles could continue into the next season.
Neil explained: “One of the major things that I’ve grown to love about Ray through five seasons is his ability to endure, and to evolve.
“And to recognise he isn’t the all-powerful superhero people may expect him to be.”
Over the last few weeks, Ray has been coming to terms with how his time with the Bravo Team has started to affect his mental state.
“Dealing with the PTS has been a struggle for Ray,” Neil revealed.
Ray is currently seeing a therapist to deal with his trauma, but his demanding role in the Bravo Team threatens to impede his progress.
Thankfully, he has demonstrated some positive changes over the last season, and hopefully won’t be as at risk when he next heads out to the field.
The star continued: “Therapy is a positive thing for anyone and everyone.
“I love how he handles his family life as well. He’s one of the few that has a good, positive family life.”

Naima finally saw Ray back to his old self in season five, but her husband admitted he still has a lot of work to do.
“I am healing,” he told her. “But I’m not healed.”
With just two episodes left in the current season, it’s hoped Ray can remain focused on the healing process before Bravo is sent on their next dangerous mission.
“And they still have their struggles,” Neil continued.
“How he deals with that, I think, is going to be one of the interesting things to see from Ray this season.”
TV regular Neil was born to a US Marine father, so already has some personal insight into the military mindset.
The star also joked: “There are some similarities between he and I, but he’s a much better person.”
After moving from CBS to stream on Paramount+, SEAL Team season six has yet to be confirmed, but will hopefully feature more positive developments for Ray and the rest of the team.
SEAL Team season 5 is available to stream on Paramount Network.
