Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) has struggled to keep former lover Paul Ashdale (Reece Dinsdale) at arm’s length in Emmerdale, but will romance ensue again?
Mandy was horrified when Paul first arrived in the village, as she was convinced that he would prove to be a negative influence on Vinny (Bradley Johnson), and let him down as he did to her all those years earlier.
However, Paul refused to take no for answer, and therefore stayed put — desperate to build a relationship with his son.
In spite of Paul’s claims of being a reformed character, Mandy has struggled to keep believe his word — but the pair did have a night of passion in the barn on one occasion!
The question is: is a reunion on the cards?
Speaking to Metro.co.uk about the matter, actress Lisa Riley said: ‘He’s the bad boy! He’s constantly scratching her on her right shoulder and is there. She knows she shouldn’t.
‘They did have a night of passion in the barn — she’s a classy girl! — and Paul uses it as a carrot dangling, but she’s like “I know we did it, it was good but we can’t go there any more”
‘Mandy says to him “All you have to do is concentrate on being a better dad, leave me out of the equation.” She says “Stop trying to get into my knickers. It’s not going to happen”, that’s an actual line!
‘He keeps doing it though, and I think that itself is becoming more of an aggravation for her. Initially she doesn’t see it as a return to a relationship, but as with a lot of women she can’t help herself!’
‘At the moment they are like two peas in a pod. They’ve both got that underlying manipulation within them that is deep rooted.
‘I think they’ve got a very passionate relationship, and they know that it’s the passion that comes through with them. That comes first, and we see that a lot.
‘It’s one of those: “Oh, well its just a mistake, move on” but then — true to Mandy’s style — she just keeps making more mistakes!
‘She is scared of being hurt again and history repeating itself. He’s come back, she does love him, but she’s so scared that if she does go for it a little bit then she’s going to be hurt again and she is petrified of that.
‘She just plays all of her cards close to chest.’
