Jamie Laing signed up to the 2019 series of Strictly Come Dancing but after suffering an injury, he was forced to pull out and Kelvin Fletcher replaced him. But, Jamie’s dancing journey is not over as he was confirmed as a 2020 contestant. But, his time on the show may be short and sweet as he told Express.co.uk about a disadvantage he has compared to the other celebrities.

When asked whether he had been preparing during lockdown for the arduous training Jamie said: “You know, I tried to keep in shape for a bit.

“I think I’m in shape, I ate a lot of cake, which turns out is not that healthy!

“And so I’ve stopped eating cake and I’ve gone on really long walks that’s my fitness at the moment.

“With these things [competitions or shows] I always thing naivety is the best thing.

“I think naivety is a really big weapon and I think you over prepare for stuff sometimes you fall short, so under prepare the best business plan is no business plan.

“That’s terrible advice!” The Made in Chelsea star laughed off.

As for whether Jamie is nervous about getting an injury this year, he revealed: “If I get injured again it would look like I bottled it!

“So I really have to be careful. I’m not worried, I feel like I’m pretty fit and healthy.

“If something happens then the Strictly curse isn’t about me sleeping with someone else, it’s definitely about my foot!”

And it seems his foot is not the only thing he is concentrating on as he also spoke who who he feels is his biggest competition.

“I’m freaking out about a few people,” Jamie remarked.

“I mean Maisie [Smith], she looks pretty hot on the dancing and you know what Bill Bailey… you never know!

“I think everyone’s looking pretty good, it’s going to be a great year,” he added.

Despite this Jamie is “pretty damn competitive”.

“I don’t like losing at anything, and especially something I fell out of last year.

“I’m going for the win – that’s what I’m going for!”

But what are the current odds on Jamie lifting the Glitterball Trophy?

Well, Maisie Smith is the current frontrunner, with her chances of winning sitting at 2/1 according to Ladbrokes.

Max George is joint with HRVY at 5/1 and Jamie is 6/1.

Strictly Come Dancing 2020 starts Saturday 17 October.
