Strictlys Bobby Braziers rent put up by dad Jeff after dancefloor success

EastEnders star Bobby Brazier is currently wowing audiences with his impressive moves on the dancefloor – but there's a downside to the newfound fame.

Speaking to OK! on the red carpet at Sunday's Pride of Britain Awards, the 20-year-old soap actor joked his devoted dad Jeff Brazier, 44, had put his rent up in a "moral" move.

"He's been cooking us lunch recently, in big portions, but on the other side of that he's just upped my rent, so it's sweet and sour!," he laughed. "I think it's a moral thing." Although Bobby was quick to add, the increase was "not much".

Speaking to us about the BBC dance show, in which he's partnered with Australian pro Diane Buswell, Bobby said it's been a rollercoaster of emotions so far.

He said: "It's a source of immense joy, and deep distress from hour to hour," he said. "I don't feel any pressure. I just dance for the sake of dancing.

"I like to leave it all out the dance floor and if I do that then I'm happy with what I've one, and I don't really care about the results. But I would love to stay as long as possible of course."

Bobby, the son of the late Jade Goody, wowed the Strictly judges once again on Saturday night's Movie Night week with a Samba to Young Hearts Run Free from the film Romeo + Juliet.

Judge Anton Du Beke was particularly impressed with Bobby's impressively flexible hips – telling him his moves were "remarkable".

Chatting to OK! about his newly-discovered love of dancing, Bobby told us: "Performing I didn't know how much I'd enjoy that, I love that.

He continued, "I feel the opposite of nervous when I'm just out there and there's people like, 'come on' and I'm moving my hips… maybe I'm just a show off!".

His devoted dad Jeff wasn't able to make the live show, so his rarely seen younger brother Freddie, 19, and Bobby's best friend Luke were there to support him instead.

Posting on his social media later on Saturday night, the proud dad revealed his joy at hearing his eldest son had put in such a good performance.

Speaking on Instagram, Jeff said: "I was really grateful to learn that Bobby had done really good on his routine – another good score, another good week.

"That he enjoyed it so much and to see him perform with such joy in his face, it just makes me so proud, and I'm really grateful to Dianne [Buswell] for being the energy that keeps him going, and what a wonderful team they are."

He continued, "Just beautiful, priceless memories for us. We're all really proud and we're all really happy at the moment, so long may that continue."

There is clearly a strong bond between Jeff and his son, as Bobby showed at the NTAs, when he gave a moving speech thanking his father.

The 20 year old actor, who plays Freddie Slater in BBC One soap EastEnders told the star-studded audience as he accepted the award for Rising Star: "I've been thinking about what I might say over the last couple of days and it's become very, very obvious.

"This actually has very, very, very little to do with me and everything to do with my dad… over the course of the last 20 years I've consistently heard him say, 'Because I can', it was a mantra or a motto of his, and him just saying that, 'Because I can!' you know, why not?"

His words moved Jeff to tears.
