Susanna Reid was forced to apologise when journalist Andrew Pierce called former Health Secretary Matt Hancock “a d***head” live on Good Morning Britain as they discussed the politician taking part in this year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! On Tuesday’s instalment on the ITV news programme, Reid admitted she “got into trouble” over her guest’s colourful language.
Journalist Kevin Maguire was joined by Pierce on the latest instalment of Good Morning Britain where they reflected on the furore surrounding the “d***head” remark.
Reid and her co-host Ed Balls told viewers the nation has been “waiting with bated breath” for Hancock to enter the jungle as part of the reality series.
Pierce replied: “I can’t decide whether I’m going to vote for him to do the Bushtucker Trials or just get him out as quickly as possible, because we want him humiliated, don’t we?”
Reid jibed: “We know you do Andrew because you’ve got a certain term for him.”

Grinning, Pierce said: “Yes I got into trouble over that last week.”
However, Reid interjected: “You got into trouble? I got into trouble! The headlines suggested that I had said the word you used.”
Pierce replied: “I got a lot of mail from the Daily Mail about that and people were agreeing with me.”
Maguire said there was “no way” a court would ever convict him for slander.
The debate comes after Boy George, Owen Warner, Scarlette Douglas, Mike Tindall, Charlene White, Chris Moyles, Jill Scott, Olivia Attwood and Babatúndé Aléshé entered the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! camp.
Pierce claimed Hancock will not be entering the camp until Wednesday but suggested he may have to join the other celebrities sooner following Olivia’s shock exit.
Fans of the ITV series were stunned when Olivia had to leave the jungle less than 24 hours after entering.
The Love Island star was reportedly feeling well but the medical team was not happy with the test results from standard checks the celebrities do throughout the show.

The I’m A Celebrity team confirmed Olivia’s departure from the series on Monday.
A spokesperson for the show said: “As a precautionary measure Olivia needed to leave the jungle to undergo some medical checks.
“Unfortunately, the medical team has advised it is not safe for Olivia to return to camp as there needs to be further investigation.”
Olivia, 31, reportedly urged the team to let her rejoin her fellow campmates but was refused.
She is still getting paid her £125,000 fee despite having to leave the programme so soon.
It is not known yet whether the reality star will be replaced by another celebrity.
The Loose Women panel, who discussed her exit on Monday’s show, said they were stunned she had to leave as they thought Olivia “could win” the series.
Good Morning Britain continues on weekdays from 6am on ITV.
