Vinnie Jones takes swipe at Clarksons Farm ahead of rival farming show airing

Vinnie Jones talks about his new farming show

Footballer turned actor Vinnie Jones has taken a cheeky dig at Jeremy Clarkson’s Prime Video series Clarkson’s Farm as he gets set to launch his own farming show.

The 58-year-old Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels star appeared on The One Show to explain the concept of Vinnie Jones In the Country and he was very keen that it wouldn’t draw comparisons to Jeremy’s offering, which is currently filming its third season.

“It brings a lot of lads together,” he told hosts Alex Jones and Roman Kemp. “You know I think mental health is such a massive thing now and going through it myself, obviously, over the last three or four years.

“It’s brought a few lads together and I’ve taken on this farm. This 400-year-old farm and steamed into it and it’s very, very different from Clarkson’s Farm,” he emphasised.

“We don’t grow anything. We don’t have any animals or anything like that.

“The only animals are the ones that work for me. You’ll see some great characters in it,” he revealed.

At the end of the show, he also reinforced the point making sure he once again let people know that his show was nothing like Jeremy’s.

Vinnie’s new programme starts streaming on November 20 and sees Vinnie take on 2,000 acres of West Sussex countryside and a host of over-ambitious farmyard-build projects.

It was filmed over the summer and promises to show a side to his character never seen before

The new show comes five years after the tragic death of his wife Tanya at the age of just 53.

Vinnie was by her side as she passed away in July 2019 after a long illness.

Back in 2017 in an interview with the Daily Mirror, Vinnie described Tanya as “the most incredible person”.

He added: “I think we’re the perfect match and I was lucky to find it.”

They share one son together, Aaron, and Vinnie is a stepfather to Tanya’s daughter, Kaley, from her previous marriage.

The One Show is on BBC One daily at 7pm. Vinny Jones In the Country streams on Discovery+ from November 20.
