What Michael from Elf looks like now – and his surprising new career

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

And while for many that means picking the perfect party outfit, going ice skating or making mince pies, most of us are just excited to sit on the sofa and re-watch our favorite Christmas film.

While there are lots of new offerings this year, Will Ferrell’s Elf is still the favourite.

It’s been 15 years since we first saw Buddy crawled into Santa’s toy bag and was whisked off to the North Pole to be raised by Pappa Elf and his friends.

We all know what the film’s star Will Ferrell has been up to over the past decade but what about Daniel Tay, who played Buddy’s younger brother Michael Hobbs?

Daniel was only 12 when the film was released and he looks completely different these days.

The child star has just turned 27 and has shaken off his babyfaced look, his floppy brown hair, and that oversized puffa jacket.

He carried on acting for a few years appearing in a few things including crime drama Brooklyn Rules and lent his voice to the 2009 video game Grand Theft Auto IV.

But then he decided to step away from the spotlight and focus on teaching, heading to Yale University to gain a BA degree in Economics.

He now works for a company which tutors students as they prepare to take university entrance exams.

So it’s a bit of a chance from snowball fights in Central Park and eating bowl after bowl of spagetti covered in syrup, but it still sounds very interesting – and we’re sure Buddy would be very proud of his little brother.
