X Factor legend Joe McElderry shows off his incredible weight loss as he poses shirtless on the beach | The Sun

X FACTOR legend Joe McElderry showed off his incredible weight loss as he posed shirtless on the beach.

Joe, 32, looked in high spirits as he shared a snap to Instagram, flashing two thumbs up for the camera.

While he got his dose of sand and sea, it certainly didn't look like the singer was in an exotic location.

He captioned his post, "Saturday run and swim," followed by the freezing cold emoji.

The West End star has spoken openly out about his body in the past, admitting he had been cruelly trolled over his weight.

Speaking on Loose Women in 2016, Joe said he doesn't advertise unhealthy diets.

He said: "I never promote anything apart from being healthy and fit. That is my message, doesn’t matter what shape or size you are."

Referencing how he was targeted by trolls after an unflattering photograph of him emerged on Lorraine in 2015, Joe said he's worried about how body shaming affects young people.

"I don’t do diets, I eat loads of good healthy food and I think that’s the important thing and this whole body shaming thing is just ridiculous it’s gone beyond a joke now.

"I can take it, it’s part of my job to get scrutinised about what you’re doing. For me it’s not a big deal but for people reading these things it’s not a good message to send."

X Factor winner Joe managed to see off Olly Murs to snatch the crown in the show's high-flying heyday – and he is still performing today.

The South Shields lad got a record deal with Simon Cowell's Syco as part of his 2009 prize and went on to release five Top 20 albums.

However, he was dropped by the label in 2011, after his single Someone Wake Me Up only sold a reported 7,000 copies.

In 2012 Joe became a victim of stalking after being tracked and followed to his home by an obsessed fan.

The stalker bombarded Joe with tweets, sat on the front row at one of his shows and harassed his mum Eileen and was handed a five-year restraining order.

He went on to appear in a string of reality shows including Popstar To Operastar, The Jump and in 2014 kicked off a 50-date UK tour.

Joe later began a long run of musical turns, including appearing in the title role of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.
