Moment BBC journalist’s bag is stolen live on air while reporting on Storm Ciaran – with fans saying viewers would ‘never have known’ as he carries on speaking to camera

This is the shocking moment a BBC journalist had his bag stolen live on air.

Harry Low was reporting last night from Mortlake in Richmond on Storm Ciaran and the issues it had caused for the local community. 

Mr Low published the clip on X (formerly Twitter) stating: ‘A career first last night – my bag was stolen halfway through our live.’ 

However, viewers have praised Mr Low for his professionalism, commenting that viewers would never have known, as he continued on unfazed.

In the clip shared to X, Mr Low starts: ‘The Thames burst its banks here about three hours ago and people are still bailing water out of there cars. 

‘We are seeing vehicle recovery trucks going back and forth and there is a lot of mud on the ground. 

‘The Environment Agency has issued a  flood alert along the Thames that stretches from Putney Bridge down towards Hampton and Thames Ditton and that’s to warn of flooding and to avoid low lying foot paths.’

Then when the camera cuts back to Mr Low after a pre-recorded clip with a member of the public, his shock and confusion is clear. 

Although viewers can’t see it, it is understood that Mr Low belongings have just been nabbed.

After a long pause he kicks in again, informing viewers tha: ‘Storm Ciaran on the way. From 6pm on Wednesday there is a yellow weather warning in place.’
