Billionaire offers influencer couple £160,000 a year to live on island

Mystery billionaire businessman offers lucky influencer couple £160,000 a year to live on his private Caribbean island and post about it online

  • Applicants need to submit a TikTok video to be reviewed by owner’s media team

A billionaire businessman is offering to pay a lucky couple £160,000 a year to live on and ‘maintain’ his private Caribbean island as a full-time job.

The dreamy job advert calls for a pair to oversee and maintain one of the British Virgin Islands as well as promote its transformation from a building site to a luxury paradise.

Its full-time influencers would jet off to the secret island in January and share their experience of living in a ‘millionaire’s playground’ across social media.

The online advert explains applicants would need to submit a TikTok video to be reviewed by the owner’s media team.

Both the island and the new owner’s name is being kept under wraps until its sale is announced but Richard Branson and Google co-founder Larry Page’s islands are nearby.

The perfect applicants must be ‘highly experienced’ in luxury hospitality. They’ll also be tasked to manage the running of the land’s facilities and events when the project is completed for investors and guests to arrive before the end of 2024.

George Ralph Dunn of Fairfax and Kensington recruitment agency is aiming to attract applicants outside his company’s network too as he says luxury workers don’t usually have the influencer skillset.

He claims the £160,000-salary job gives the couple an opportunity to ‘make the island their own’ and joked he’d apply if he wasn’t tasked with finding the ideal candidates.

‘This is the ultimate influencer role,’ George said. ‘They’d have to pick up their whole life and move but it’s a cool role to pick up your life for.

‘On the islands surrounding it you’ve got Richard Branson and Larry Page so that area tends to be a billionaire’s playground.

‘The owner wants to emphasise the beauty of the place and that’s a huge part of this role. They’d need to capture it and then put their own stamp on how everything looks and works.

‘He really wants to capture how the island transforms too so they’d tell the story from day one with the skeleton of a building site to hopefully one year on where the majority of the work is completed.

‘As they start to bring guests and investors to the island they’d know it back to front and have a familiarity with the place so they could offer a next-level experience and make it their own island.’

He added:  ‘The principle of ‘barefoot luxury’ is essentially being in a beautiful part of the world, having good service but not feeling up-tight. It’s unpretentious luxury.’

He said it would suit people who are adventurous and someone who has a good idea of luxury from working on yachts or in ultra-high-net-worth households.

George says it’s normal for high-wealth individuals to hire ‘domestic couples’ as they tend to have separate skill sets that compliment each other, such as a groundsman and a housekeeper.

The island already has a general manager and engineers in charge of constructing its facilities so the couple would only need to offer suggestions.

They’d work six-day weeks and have one return flight home per year coupled with 25 holiday days which could be spent on one of the nearby islands.

George plans to have a couple selected before Christmas ahead of them applying for visas and kick-starting their influencer dream at the start of next year.
