Depraved couple who abused girl like an ‘animated sex toy’ when she was under 13 are jailed for total of 40 years as victim says: ‘I dream to be normal’

A couple who mercilessly treated a young girl as their plaything have been jailed for 40 years as a judge told them their abuse ‘ran the gamut of depravity’.
Simon Parsons, 44, and Rebecca Dow, 39, both of south Wales, were convicted of a chain of serious sex offences against the victim when she was under the age of 13.
Cardiff Crown Court heard how the couple used drugs to subdue the girl before subjecting her to horrific ordeals of rape and sexual assault.
Today, their victim bravely told of her ‘dream to be normal’ in a moving impact statement as the pair received their comeuppance.
She said: ‘You have traumatised me for the rest of my life. I dream to be normal.
‘I had my life torn apart and turned upside down. I never had a childhood. I never deserved this.
‘I carry the feeling of guilt and shame every day. I am a messed up kid and that’s not my fault.

‘This is not the life I dreamed of as a girl. I have tried to put it to the back of my mind, but it’s me who has to live with it 24/7.
‘You have tortured, humiliated and destroyed me. I don’t live, I survive.’
Cardiff Crown Court heard the offences against the victim ‘ran the gamut of depravity’.
Parsons was said to have an ‘unhealthy relationship’ with sex and and a ‘museum-grade collection’ of sex toys.
Both used drugs to ‘bring the victim to their level’.
The court heard ‘promises of reward’ were made in exchange for sexual activity – and Parsons told her he would ‘kill her’ if she told anyone about the abuse.
But the girl herself has attempted suicide as a result of her ordeal.
Parsons, of Llanrumney, Cardiff was found guilty of multiple charges including child rape and the sexual assault of a child.
Dow, of Rogerstone, Newport, was found guilty of multiple charges including aiding and abetting the rape of a child.
The pair have been jailed for a total of 40 years – Parsons to 24 years and Dow for 16 years.
David Elias KC, defending Dow, said: ‘She continues to deny the offences. There is nothing I can say to minimise them.’
Judge David Wynn Morgan told them: ‘In the pursuit of your perverted sexual gratification you were treating her as some kind of animated sex toy.
‘So far as the offences on the indictment are concerned, they run the full gamut of depravity.’
Addressing Parsons, Judge Wynn Morgan said: ‘The evidence disclosed in your case Parsons, is that you have a most unhealthy preoccupation with sex.’
Both were given indefinite restraining orders to not contact their victim who cannot be named to protect her identity.
