Fears for missing teenager after border fishing accident

A search will resume at first light for a teenage boy who hasn’t been seen since a boating accident in Yarrawonga on the New South Wales-Victoria border.

Two 16-year-old boys were believed to be fishing in a tinny at the lake on Silverwoods Boulevard just before 9am on Sunday.

It’s understood the boys were hit by a wave and fell overboard into the water.

Police said two men saw the boys in trouble and swam to their aid and managed to pull one of the teenagers to shore.

The men returned to the area and were unable to find the second boy.

Search and Rescue officers spent Sunday searching the lake with the assistance of Airwing, SES, and police divers.

The boy is yet to be located, and late Sunday police said the water search would continue first thing Monday.
