A HISTORIC ship became trapped and close to sinking after drifting from its mooring.
The Zebu started drifting after losing her anchor at Holyhead Marina on Saturday.
She drifted some 600 metres in Holyhead New Harbour before becoming stuck on a breakwater.
The ship is now tipped at a 45 degree angle with most of the deck submerged.
It had been heading to Bristol for conservation work from her base at Royal Albert Dock in Liverpool.
Owners Tall Ship Zebu tweeted: “We are relieved to report that no-one was injured.
“We are working with relevant parties to ascertain what the situation is and we extend our sincere gratitude to all who have assisted and offered their support, we really do appreciate it.”
