I won £30k in People's Postcode lottery… my first act was to splash out on a £130 KETTLE – I won't be judged | The Sun

A PEOPLE'S Postcode Lottery winner who scooped a £30,000 jackpot says she won't be judged for her first act of splashing out on a £130 kettle.

Neighbours in Kent have been handed £30,000 windfalls in the latest "Street Prize" lotto draw.

And one of them has revealed her first purchase won't be a luxury item – but one she'll treasure nevertheless.

Justine White, 49, told People's Postcode Lottery presenter Danyl Johnson that she wanted "a posh new kettle".

Justine, from Gillingham, said her ideal buy would be "a nice Dualit one to match my toaster".

And she excitedly joked: "You should have seen me when I got my toaster."

Justine, who has lived at the same address for 27 years, also has plans to treat her family.

She said: "My daughter got engaged this summer.

"Part of that will be a little nest egg for her when her and her fiancé set up home."

She was one of four neighbours in the postcode ME7 1TB who won £30,000 apiece, while a fifth – who played with two tickets – doubled their money to pocket £60,000.

The People's Postcode Lottery, running since 2005, hands prizes to Brits each week based on their postcode.

Presenter Danyl said: "It was a fantastic day surprising the winners with our £30,000 Street Prize.

"I hope they all get the chance to celebrate together with a street party.

"Seeing neighbours celebrate together is brilliant and they know they're also supporting good causes locally, throughout Great Britain and internationally.

"When players sign up, charities win too."

A third of ticket prices go towards charities and good causes, with People's Postcode Lottery players said to have raised more than £1.1billion.

Even before this Gillingham jackpot, Kent was recently hailed as one of "one of Britain's luckiest counties".

Three locals scooped £3million in Lotto prizes in only a fortnight.

Separately, in another People's Postcode Lottery draw, neighbours in the Kent town of Deal shared £1million.

Among them, pregnant mum Tamsin Burling, described a close call which meant she nearly missed out on an £83,000 windfall.

Neighbours welcomed the triumph although did describe one aspect which they said left them feeling "gutted".

And another £1million jackpot elsewhere in Kent saw winners including an ex-Norwich City and Bournemouth footballer and ex-EFL manager.

Other recent People's Postcode Lottery winners include a married couple from Birmingham who'll spend their winnings on honouring their late parents.
