Labour MPs jump on unverified Gaza hospital blast claims to instantly blame Israel and brand the attack a ‘war crime’

Labour MPs were quick to jump on unverified claims that the blast at a Gaza City hospital was an Israeli air strike.
Far-Left MPs – including John McDonnell and Zarah Sultana – blamed Israel and branded the attack a ‘war crime’.
Ms Sultana, MP for Coventry South, wrote on X on Tuesday: ‘More than 500 people are reported to have been killed after an Israeli air strike hit a hospital in Gaza. Political leaders of all parties – including my own – must call for an urgent ceasefire and an end to the war on Gaza.’
Former shadow chancellor Mr McDonnell said: ‘Do not try and tell me that this is part of any right to defend.
‘Whatever your beliefs, whatever your position in society please appeal to our political leaders, including of my own party, to demand an end to the bombing.’

Other Labour MPs also blamed Israel. Apsana Begum, who represents Poplar and Limehouse, said: ‘Reports of an Israeli air strike causing mass civilian casualties in Gaza are beyond appalling.’
And Tahir Ali, who represents Birmingham Hall Green, questioned: ‘How can this be justified as self-defence?
‘This is murder of innocent civilians. The bombing must stop and a ceasefire agreed. Innocent people are dying.’
Foreign Secretary James Cleverly yesterday condemned the comments and criticised those who spread ‘misinformation’.
He warned: ‘Everybody – whether formally involved in the reporting process or whether they are a citizen journalist or just active on social media – should be very conscious that this involves real lives.’
