Virgin Australia passengers across the country are facing delays after the airline’s check-in and boarding system crashed.
Many flights due to depart airports since 4.30pm have been affected by the system outage.
Long queues have formed at Sydney Airport as travellers arrived at the Virgin terminal.
The airline has now begun checking-in passengers manually.
Passengers at airports across the country have reported being stuck in lines for an hour or more. waiting to check-in for their flights.
Virgin has told travellers to check their flight status on the airline’s website.
“At 4:30pm a systems outage occurred with the Sabre booking system,” a Virgin spokesman said.
“The cause of this outage is currently under investigation though we understand a number of airlines globally are impacted.
“Airport staff have moved to manual check-in processes but there are delays. We are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.”
