Maternity ward used by Kate Middleton and where Meghan Markle will give birth gets a two-star health rating

The Lindo Wing scored just two out of five in a mandatory Government review.

The cleanliness and condition of facilities and the building was adjudged sub-standard.

A report on the Food Standards Agency website said “improvement is necessary” and good food standards were unattainable because of the dismal “layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control”.

The damning report was published after an inspection by London’s Westminster Council, which yesterday refused to send a full copy of it to The Sun.

Lindo Wing comes under St Mary’s NHS Trust, which has been rapped in another check over cleaning and disposal of hazardous and toxic materials.

The Care Quality Commission, which regulates health and social care, said several services needed improvement.

Even though the Lindo Wing is a private maternity hospital, it is subject to Government hygiene checks.

The swish suite was chosen by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge for their three children’s births.

Amal Clooney also had her twins there.

Prices start at £5,900 a night. A brochure for the wing reveals how each room comes with satellite TV and Wifi.

Patients are also offered a wine list including champagne.

Last night an Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust spokesman told The Sun: “Two of the three aspects of food hygiene inspected at the Lindo Wing private as very good.

“The issues highlighted in the report were isolated and have been rectified.”
