Shocking moment thug batters three police officers over the head with a BIKE during street bust-up… before hero shopkeeper successfully wrestles him to the ground on his own

This is the moment a thug battered three police officers over the head with a bicycle before a have-a-go hero successfully wrestled him to the ground all on his own during a bust-up.

Video shows a thug dressed in black lifting a bicycle over his head then bringing it down on officers after West Midlands Police were called to Lozells, Birmingham at around 1pm yesterday.

A have-a-go hero, named as Afghan shopkeeper Abdul Guldari, then wrestles the attacker to the ground.

One police officer was left lying on the ground with a head injury, with three officers taken to hospital to be treated for injuries which were not serious. Two men aged 22 and 30 were arrested on suspicion of assault. They remain in custody for questioning.

Afghan shopkeeper Abdul Guldari, 57, stepped in to help police because he was so ‘angry when the man threw my fruit’

Mr Guldari said he stepped in to help police because he was ‘angry when the man threw my fruit’.

The father-of-six, originally from Afghanistan, leapt into action after violence flared outside his business, Fruit and Vegetable House.

He said: ‘I was working here when police tried to arrest a man they suspected was a drug dealer. The police asked for his ID and what he was doing and he kicked off saying ”why are you asking me this?” He was saying to the cops ”don’t touch me or I will punch you”. While this is all happening this man picked up a bike.

‘The he started fighting with police too. When I see he took my bowl, this shook me up, one hook and I had him on the floor.’

The incident took place outside of Mr Guldari shop Fruit and Vegetable House on Villa Road

He continued: ‘I was angry. I helped the police and he went down. More police came and took the men away. This is my business, I love my country and I wanted to help the police, help my job and my business. I have run this business for a year now. I have never had this before. People usually have respect and there’s no problem.’

In the video, trouble escalates quickly as the police are unable to detain the man and can be seen calling for back up.

A separate onlooker then jumps into the tussle by picking up a bike and smashing the group of officers over the head with it. In the confusion, the man swings a punch at an officer’s face before bizarrely throwing what appears to be a cabbage at him.

Detective Superintendent Jim Munro, from Birmingham Local Policing Area, said: ‘Our officers are on the frontline every minute of every day – often putting their own safety at risk – to help and protect the public in their time of need.

‘Attacks on our staff while carrying out their daily duties are unacceptable and will never be tolerated.’

The footage has been viewed and shared thousands of times since being uploaded to social media today.

One social media users said: ‘Broken Britain again. Why did the dude with the bike even get involved?’

Another wrote: ‘The audacity of it, the lack of the respect shown for the police astounds me. The Wild West Midlands.’ A third put: ‘The police just don’t look in control of the situation here at any point. Just shocking behaviour from all involved.’

Others praised the business owner for stepping in to help the officers. Another person added: ‘Uncle handled him better than the cops ffs.’

One said: ‘Old dude was cool until man handled his cabbage, that’s his livelihood he not playing when it comes to that.’ Another added: ‘Don’t f**k with uncle’s fruit stand.’
