Mortgage broker Robert Hammond, 47, will face trial after denying murdering his wife at their £1.2m Cambridgeshire home
A mortgage broker will face a trial accused of murdering his wife at their £1.2M home.
Robert Hammond, 47, appeared in court today and denied murdering finance company director Sian Hammond, 46.
After submitting his ‘not guilty’ pleas, Hammond was remanded in custody ahead of a trial date set for next summer.
Sian was found dead at her large detached home in the village of Histon near Cambridge on 30 October that she shared with their two daughters.
During the short hearing at Cambridge Crown Court, the judge listed the trial for two weeks starting on 17 June next year.

Mrs Hammond was described as having a ‘wealth of experience in financial services gained from over a decade in the industry
Mrs Hammond was Principal and Director of Lime Tree Financial Services in Cambridge.
After her death, Sian’s family released a tribute and a picture through Cambridgeshire Police.
They said: ‘Everyone that knew her would agree Sian was one of the friendliest people you could have the pleasure of meeting, and she will be sorely missed by many.
‘Please bear with us whilst we come to terms with this terrible loss. We will keep everyone updated with the funeral arrangements.’
She had two teenage daughters who both swim at national level for Wales and England respectively, and had two Limetree pups – Bailey and Cai.
Her husband runs Hammonds Mortgage Services based in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, and is described as Director and Mortgage and Protection Adviser.
A statement issued by Mrs Hammond’s company following her shock death said: ‘Unfortunately we have to share some devastating news with you all.
‘Last week we lost our beloved Sian, wife to James, mother to Katie and Lauren, friend to many and Managing Director of Lime Tree FS.
‘Everyone that knew her would agree Sian was one of the friendliest people you could have the pleasure of meeting, and she will be sorely missed by many.

A profile about the popular boss states: ‘Sian has two teenage daughters who both swim at national level for Wales and England respectively, which means that when she’s not at work or walking the dogs you can normally find her at the pool.
‘When she does get any free time she enjoys traveling with friends and exercising at the local gym.
‘She is also the co-owner of two Limetree pups – Bailey and Cai.’
Mrs Hammond was described as having a ‘wealth of experience in financial services gained from over a decade in the industry.’
She had previously graduated with a BSc Honours degree in biochemistry and worked in scientific research.
