MYSTERY surrounds the death of a woman who was discovered on a beach as cops launch a probe into the “unexplained horror”.
Emergency services were called to the coastal town of Jaywick, Essex, this morning at around 7.20am following concerns for the welfare of a woman.
Essex Police have confirmed that officers will be remaining at the scene throughout the day following the discovery.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Alongside emergency services colleagues, we were called to concerns for the welfare of a woman on a beach in Jaywick shortly after 7.20am this morning, Tuesday 26 September.
"All services quickly arrived. Despite the best efforts of medics, sadly the woman had died.
"Her death is being treated as unexpected and the circumstances around it will be the subject of an investigation.
"There will continue to be an emergency services presence in the area throughout the morning and into the afternoon."
