Thousands of Russian private estates were seized by the state after the 1917 revolution and hadn’t been reprivatised. There is one success story.
Private investors have been put off by the high costs and bureaucracy that come with trying to reprivatise and restore these historic estates.
But today, one of a handful of success stories is the Serednikovo estate, which has been restored and today is used to host weddings and celebrations, with profits going to keep up restoration efforts.
