Sickening footage shows XL Bully savaging a small dog as its owner struggles to get it under control when it breaks out of its collar

  • Police were called to Old Hall Road, Maghull to reports of the attack on Sunday 

This is the horrifying moment a small dog grabbed by the neck in a savage attack by an XL Bully.

Merseyside Police were called to reports that a dog had been attacked by another dog on Old Hall Road, Maghull, at around 4.45pm on Sunday.

Terrifying footage shows the XL Bully lunge at the small white dog before sinking its teeth into its neck and gripping onto it. 

The owner of the XL Bully can be seen hitting his dog with the lead the animal had escaped from before it ran towards the smaller pup. 

A witness said the XL Bully owner had told the owner of the small dog ‘lift your dog because I can’t control her’, before the vicious animal slipped out of its collar.

The owner of the small dog can be seen hitting the XL Bully in an attempt to free his pet. The XL Bully had to be prised off the smaller dog by members of the public. 

Police officers have confirmed the small dog was taken to a vet for a check-up and the XL Bully’s owner has been spoken to by police. 

The footage of the attack surfaced on social media, where people expressed anger at the XL Bully not being on a lead.

One person said: ‘Why is the dog off its lead? This is what I don’t get.’ The person who posted the video clarified that the dog had escaped.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: ‘We can confirm we received a report that a dog had attacked another dog in Maghull yesterday, Sunday 10 September.

‘At around 4.45pm, it was reported a dog, believed to be an XL bully, had been walking on Old Hall Road when it slipped out of its collar and ran away from its male owner.’

The spokesperson added: ‘It then bit another dog before its owner and a member of the public managed to separate them. 

‘The attacked dog was taken to a vet for a check-up. The owner of the XL bully has been spoken to by officers.
