Startling images have showed just how bad prostitution is in a small California town – with scantily-clad women taking over parking lots in search of work.
Sex workers have been pictured prowling the streets of National City, just outside San Diego, leaving one mayor frustrated over the repealing of a law that banned street walking.
Ever since Gov Gavin Newsom repealed the law banning loitering and street walking, this small city home to some of the US navy’s most prestigious units has seen a huge increase in sex workers.
DailyMail.com images show how women, either on their own or in pairs, are hanging around the parking lot, flicking their hair, and making eye contact with people driving past in cars.

The women, who paraded up and down the industrial street, were seen waving at passing cars until a police vehicle showed up.
One woman gave a male driver a hand signal, at which point he pulled around the corner to a spot under a bridge and she skipped off to follow.
When DailyMail.com spotted the six or so women in National City, they were approaching the windows of some passing trucks, before retreating again.
Although Dalbergia Street is filled with industrial businesses and nearby naval bases, there are also pockets of residential housing on the street.
National City is spiraling out of control, according to Mayor Ron Morrison, due to brazen prostitutes who have been gathering in the downtown area.
Prostitution is illegal in the state of California, but Morrison believes that a new law decriminalizing loitering with the intent to engage in prostitution is responsible.
Another law prohibits police from citing people suspected of soliciting sex based on appearances, allowing prostitutes to walk the streets in little clothing.
Morrison told CBS8: ‘Police can’t literally go and talk to them because they don’t have a right to talk to them because they are not doing anything wrong for loitering for prostitution.

Morrison, pictured here, said that local government is now looking to find ways to combat the open prostitution
‘Even if they are going out talking to someone in their car and sitting there when all they are wearing is less than a G-string.’
California Governor Gavin Newsom approved Senate Bill 357 in July last year that brought about the changes, with it taking effect this year.
Morrison showed the outlet pictures that he claimed show sex workers walking near Integrity Charter School, where parents drop their kids off.
According to Morrison, officials are now actively looking to help businesses and hotels that have felt the effects of the prostitution.
The non-partisan mayor also told Fox News that as soon as Democrat Newsom’s pen touched the bill, prostitution began expanding in the state.
‘The moment it was signed by the governor, boom, everyone knew the rules were out the window,’ Morrison said.

‘Those that are out there on the street, most of them are wearing less than what you would consider a scanty negligee.
‘It is just flaunting in everybody’s face. And so a lot of people are screaming, “Hey, you know, can’t you get them on indecent exposure?”‘
He continued: ‘And the problem is the way our laws read in this state. The definition of indecent exposure is as long as the genitals are covered. Anything else is fair game out in public.
‘I was driving on one of the streets the other day, and there’s this young lady standing there in the middle of the street wearing basically a G-string, and that was it, and a couple pasties. But she’s right in front of my car, I couldn’t move.
‘So, I did ask her very politely, “Would you please move out of the street?” And she looked at me and says, “If you don’t want to talk to me, you can go around.”‘
Morrison also told Fox he thought some of the girls on the street could be underage.

The mayor said with prostitution now open on the streets, other crimes have followed including shootings and assaults – with a pregnant prostitute being kidnapped, beaten and raped just a few weeks ago.

Earlier this year, footage emerged showing women outside a Catholic elementary school in Oakland.
Footage captured by ABC News’s I-Team showed the women outside St Anthony’s soliciting customers in cars parked outside the school gate.
At the time, Rodney Pierre-Antoine, who oversees various Catholic elementary schools, including St. Anthony’s, said: ‘We don’t want our students to witness the perils of human trafficking.’
When asked by ABC’s Stephanie Sierra whether police were patrolling the area outside the school on a daily basis, he said simply: ‘They’re present.’
Pierre-Antoine also claimed that police have been unable to police properly due to the introduction of the bill. ‘With the passage of the loitering bill, their hands are somewhat handcuffed,’ he said.
Community members, including the parish’s Father Ghebriel Woldai told the channel the problems run deeper and an influx of pimps has also caused a spike in violent crime and confrontations between pimps and gang members.
‘If there is a violent shooting, sometimes we experience those kinds, it scares me a lot,’ Father Ghebriel said. ‘We feel powerless, we just pray.’
