White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Tuesday that President Trump has asked his cabinet secretaries to scour their budgets and look for funding that could be redirected to his oft-touted-but-still-unbuilt border wall.
“We’re looking at the other options,” Sanders told reporters. “The president’s asked every agency to look and see if they have money that can be used for that purpose and that’s exactly what we’re doing.”
She also claimed that the administration’s proposed North American Free Trade Agreement overhaul — dubbed the USMCA trade pact — could also generate sufficient revenue to pay for the wall.
However, she could not explain how exactly that would work when pressed by a reporter.
The charged press briefing lasted less than 15 minutes, and one reporter shouted, “Do your job, Sarah” as she walked away from the podium.
This was the first White House press briefing since Nov. 27.
