THE US has issued an urgent warning to its citizens in Ukraine to flee now after Vladimir Putin's deadly missile strikes across the country.
The US Embassy in Kyiv sent out an e-mail to Americans in Ukraine urging them to take shelter and leave the country "when it is safe to do so."
The e-mail reads: "Russia has launched attacks against Ukraine's civilian infrastructure as well as government facilities in Kyiv and elsewhere.
"Russia's continued strikes in Ukraine pose a direct threat to civilians and civilian infrastructure.
"The U.S. Embassy urges US citizens to shelter in place and depart Ukraine now using privately available ground transportation options when it is safe to do so."
The urgent warning comes as the Russian leader unleashed a deadly barrage of missiles in multiple cities across Ukraine.

Ukrainian officials said at least 75 missiles were fired in Ukraine with 34 of them striking multiple cities.
Harrowing images in Kyiv show civilians covered in blood surrounded by flaming cars and damaged buildings following this morning's blast.
Explosions were also heard in the centre of Dnipro city while Ukrainian media reported explosions in Lviv, Ternopil and Zhytomyr, Kremenchuk Zaporizhzhia Kharkiv and Kropyvnytskyi.
The brutal attack prompted the Ukrainian President to slam Putin for trying to "wipe Ukraine off the map."

Zelensky posted on Telegram: "They are trying to destroy us and wipe us off the face of the earth…destroy our people who are sleeping at home in Zaporizhzhia. Kill people who go to work in Dnipro and Kyiv.
"The air raid sirens do not subside throughout Ukraine. There are missiles hitting. Unfortunately, there are dead and wounded."
In a video address on social media, Zelensky said Russia had targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure using Iran-made drones.
Officials confirmed energy infrastructure was hit in Lviv and Kharkiv.
The attacks come just a day after President Vladimir Putin accused Ukraine of "terrorism"
The series of revenge strikes followed the explosion of the key Crimean Bridge on Saturday.
In an embarrassing blow to Vladimir Putin's war, Kerch Bridge which links Crimea to mainland Russia was badly damaged in a shocking blast, leaving three people dead.
While the exact cause of the explosion remains unknown there is speculation that the blast was triggered by a truck bomb.
The strike sparked fury among Russian officials who called for strikes in big cities.
