Villagers hit out at Russian tycoon’s plan to build ‘eyesore’ 6ft high ‘Berlin Wall’ fence around his £2.8m Buckinghamshire estate ‘after thugs launched arson attacks’
- Alexander Mosionzhik wants to build the metal barrier around £2.85m property
- Locals have said fence will be an ‘eyesore’ and ruin wildlife and natural beauty
- Mr Mosionzhik’s estate has eight bedroom house with 30 acres of private land
Residents of an upmarket village have hit out at a Russian businessman’s plans to build a ‘prison-like’ 6ft high fence around his country estate.
Locals living in Marlow Bottom, Buckinghamshire, have slammed Alexander Mosionzhik for wanting to erect the security barrier around his recently purchased £2.85million property.
And some have even said the metal palisade structure will create a ‘Berlin Wall’ running through the area, where the average home costs a whopping £740,000.
In application documents, Mr Mosionzhik’s agent said previous antisocial behaviour, including an arson attack, had meant the fence was needed around Wymers Estate.
They added: ‘With this in mind, the new owner is keen to erect this fence to improve the security of the dwelling and associated land including ancient woodland.’

But long-time residents of the community have raised objections in the hope that Buckinghamshire Council will stop the work from going ahead.
The plans received 26 objections from neighbours across the area, who do not want it built and are concerned about how the metal fence will affect wildlife, with some describing it as an ‘eyesore’.
Local Laurence Ward described the proposed fence as ‘ugly, austere, prison-like and intimidating’.
He added: ‘It will be a complete eyesore all around the Wymers estate. Such a fence is only suitable for an industrial area and has no place in an area of outstanding natural beauty.’
Mr Mosionzhik held the position of chairman of the board of directors at Nafta Moskva, a Russian oil trading company.
His estate has a house, which spans 4651 sq ft and has around eight bedrooms, four reception rooms, a garden, an outdoor swimming pool and 30 acres of private grounds.
It also has a secondary lodge which has two further bedrooms, two reception rooms, garages, stables and a barn.
Another resident in the area, Debra Manfield-Clarke, said the proposal’s marked boundaries would ‘block a public right of way’.

Concerns have also been raised about the fence blocking footpaths and a ‘well-used’ cycle path.
And local Mark Fulton said the plans would ‘adversely affect all the wildlife which cross or use the field day and night’.
Robert Browning, who lived in Marlow Bottom for over 35 years before retiring to Somerset, likened the fence to the construction of a ‘Berlin Wall in our village’.
While Stephen Pack added: ‘The woodland is home to deer, fox and a plethora of other wildlife, all of which rely on transit between the fields and woodland.
‘This fencing would bring direct harm to that wildlife.’
Nigel Comben, ‘strongly’ objected to the fence and said: ‘Such a fence would be an absolute eyesore to all in the local community and those passing through.’
