What happened at Adams High School in South Bend, Indiana?

The South Bend Police Department confirmed officers were sent to Adams High School in Indiana on Tuesday morning to investigate a stabbing on campus, around 8.20am local time.

A male student was reportedly stabbed in a second-floor bathroom, according to the police scanner.

He reportedly was stabbed in his lower back or ribs and told police five males attacked him.

The school was put on lockdown following the attack, according to a South Bend Community School Corp. spokeswoman.

Have the police said anything about the incident?

"Shortly after 8 am on 1/11/22, our officers responded to a stabbing at John Adams High School," the South Bend Police Department said on Twitter.

"One student was wounded and was taken to the hospital. That student is in stable condition at this time.

"An investigation is ongoing," the tweet concluded.

Video from the scene showed a heavy police presence on the school campus.

There is currently no word on any arrests or what led up to the stabbing.
