The attack was carried out by Adam OCG (Organised Crime Group) gangster ''Skinny''.
Who is Mohammed Awais Sajid?
Mohammed Awais Sajid, who also used the alias ''Skinny'', features in the brand new three-part series titled The Detectives: Taking Down an OCG.
The BBC Two trilogy follows detectives in Greater Manchester as they work to dismantle an OCG known as ''The Adam'' – based on the Newbold Estate in Rochdale.

The victim was attacked after he attempted to calm down a 'minor' road rage row.
Involved in the incident was Adam OCG member Habibur Rahman.
Rahman, who the court heard was the instigator of the incident, felt ''disrespected'' and as a result assembled up to 20 men for the attack.
One member of the mob called to the scene was Mohammed Awais Sajid – ''Skinny''.

Upon arriving at the incident, Sajid removed an axe from beneath the waistband of his trousers and attacked Mr Brooksbank, the court heard.
Sajid struck the victim in the ribs and then swung the weapon at his head.
The blow was only averted as Mr Brooksbank raised his left arm to protect himself.
The assault almost completely severed his arm above the wrist and he nearly died because of the amount of blood he lost.
The mob only dispersed when another of the tree surgeons working alongside Mr Brooksbank started up a chainsaw in a bid to scare the offenders off, the court heard.
After staggering away from the scene, the victim was taken to hospital where he received life-saving surgery.
His hand was partially reattached, but then required a further five surgeries in the two years since, just to maintain 60 percent use of his arm.
Mr Brooksbank later told police how the attack left him both physically and mentally scarred.
Where is Skinny now?
In 2019, Mohammed Awais Sajid was one of four men jailed for their part in the brutal gang attack.
Sajid, of Kings Road, Rochdale, was convicted of committing section 18 assault and jailed for 18 years.
His fellow gangster Habibur Rahman was also sent to prison for four-and-a-half years on an assault charge.
The court heard how the mob member used a knuckleduster to punch one of the other tree surgeons in the face, breaking his nose.
Two others were jailed on the charge of conspiracy to commit violent disorder.
