A Place In The Sun house hunter in tears over Ben Hillman’s property choice

APITS: House hunter cries at property Ben Hillman found

A house hunter on A Place In The Sun was reduced to tears by one of the properties shown to her by Ben Hillman.

Candy and Mark apeared on the Channel 4 show seeking a perfect holiday home in Almería, based in the Andalusia province of Spain.

They are due to tie the knot in six months and were hoping to find their ideal holiday home before the big day.

With a budget of £77,000, the couple were hoping for a three-bedroom house with traditional features, but did say they didn’t mind putting in the work if a property needed sprucing up, as Mark works in construction.

While Ben did brand their budget “tight”, he promised he’d do his best to meet their requirements.

However, one property he approached the couple with brought Candy to tears for all the wrong reasons.

They hadn’t even done a full tour of the house when Candy said: “I’m just not feeling it at all,” as they stood in the living room of the dilapidated property, which clearly needed a lot of work.

“I understood you incorrectly,” acknowledged Ben, “because I know you said a project is fine and you know the fact that you [Mark] are builder as well… have I sort of run away with that?” he enquired.

“Maybe so,” Candy responded with tears in her eyes. “I’m finding that a little more daunting… the level of renovations, so maybe we’ve not made it entirely clear,” she conceded.

“One or two rooms that need a project but this to me is quite daunting,” she admitted

“It is top to bottom,” Ben conceded before asking Candy if she was getting emotional.

Confessing that she was, Ben realised that they wouldn’t be persuaded about the property.

“This is all about finding you the right place,” he told the couple. “Let’s find something that you do love, hopefully the next property.”

Due to their small budget, every property they saw did require a certain amount of work.

It all came together at the end of the show though, as Ben was thrilled to hear Candy and Mark had found their perfect home from home.

They placed a cash offer of £76,250 which was instantly accepted by the owner.
