Sir Brian May announced the death of his driver Phil Webb who sadly died from a heart attack.
The Queen musician, 76, paid a heartfelt tribute to his “dearest friend” as he uploaded a series of photos of the pair together on his Instagram on Wednesday evening (October 11).
Brian penned: “This is one of the saddest days of my life. Last night we lost Phil Webb to a heart attack.
“Phil, my dedicated driver for over 30 years was my family’s dearest friend and protector and the kindest and most decent man I have ever had the pleasure to meet.
“We are all devastated and join with Phil’s wife and son in grieving for the last man on Earth to deserve this much too early passing away. Bless you dear Phil – we all love you.”

He signed off: “We’re proud of the life you led, and forever grateful for everything you gave us – more than any words could ever describe. Bri.”
The guitarist was inundated with messages of support as many social media users offered their condolences.
Musician Rufus Taylor penned: “What??!! Just spoke to him a couple of days ago! This is awful news.”
Another person remarked: “Phil was a lovely, kind and gentle soul who always had time for everyone. When I last saw him at We Will Rock You, it was a very hot day and he offered me a bottle of water from his car. It’s little things like this that really sum him up – even though he was pretty much a celebrity himself, he was always humble, friendly and generous. Loved him. Rest in peace, Phil and thanks for everything.”

A third penned: “So sorry for your loss! A thought to his family too! May he rest in peace! xx.”
“Oh no. I’m so sorry. Deepest condolences to you all,” a fourth wrote.
While a fifth added: “So very sorry. Sending much love and strength to you, your family and Phil’s family.”
The news of Phil’s death comes a month after Sir Brian posted an emotional tribute to Freddie Mercury on what would have been his 77th birthday.
Alongside a photo of Freddie with his guitar, the Bohemian Rhapsody hitmaker wrote: “At the time this photo was taken I’m sure it didn’t seem very important to see Freddie’s fingers dancing on my own home-made guitar.
“Now it summons up waves of affection and great memories. He is so missed.”
Sir Brian recently shared his frustration after 34,000 of Freddie’s personal possessions were put up for auction by Sotheby’s.
The guitarist shared he “can’t look” as he beloved pal’s belongings would “go under the hammer to be knocked down to the highest bidder and dispersed forever”, adding, “to us, his closest friends and family, it’s too sad”.
