Dancing On Ice pros Alexandra Schauman and Lukasz Rozycki have sensationally announced their decision to quit the show after 13 years, revealing that the show has taken a “very different angle” than they are comfortable with.
The married couple, who are from Finland and Poland but now live together in Sweden, opted to make a statement ahead of the show doing so, admitting that they “struggle to agree” with changes made to the format.
Alexandra explained: “Lukasz and I are not returning for the upcoming season of Dancing On Ice, and wanted to say a few words about that before it is publicly announced.
Despite acknowledging she has “absolutely loved” appearing on the show in the past, she now feels that “there is no opportunity to “grow” or take on different roles”.
She added to Mail Online: “Maybe it’s not so attractive for the show that we aren’t dramatic, we treat people with respect, and we aren’t interested in the increasingly contrived romantic narratives.”

Her celebrity partners in the past have included James Jordan, who is also famous for his Strictly Come Dancing appearances, and Sam Nixon.
Meanwhile, Lukasz has partnered with the likes of Myleene Klass and gymnast Beth Tweddle, with whom he made it to the final back in 2014.
He revealed that the show has “taken its toll” both mentally and physically over the years.
“The job that we pros do is sometimes very underestimated. We have so much to do that it can be overwhelming and stressful,” Lukasz shared.

He and Alexandra reached out to the show’s production team to find a solution and came to the joint decision that “a year off would be best”.
Alex said she’ll be watching from home and feeling very “sad and strange” about no longer being a part of it, but Lukasz has shared that it might not be a permanent exit for the couple.
He stated: “We have a very good relationship with the execs who have been very supportive, and we’ve definitely left the door open for discussions about returning in the future.”

Andy Buchanan and Robin Johnstone both had a break for one series but are now expected back on the ice.
Matt Evers, on the other hand, has made the difficult decision, like Alexandra and Lukasz, to part ways with the show after a successful 15 year run.
Other dancers expected to be hitting TV screens for the 2024 shows include Sylvain Longchambon, Vanessa Bauer, Colin Grafton, and Brendyn Hatfield, while celebs include S Club’s Hannah Spearritt, retired Olympian Greg Rutherford, Love Islander Amber Davies and Corrie’s Claire Sweeney.
