Donny Osmond reveals he once never wanted to sing Puppy Love
Donny Osmond has declared himself “heartbroken” after he was forced to pull out of two shows scheduled during his eagerly-awaited solo Las Vegas residency.
The star shared the sad news with his 210,000 Twitter (X) followers, explaining that he could no longer perform the shows in Sin City, held at Harrah’s Hotel.
“I am heartbroken to let you know that I will be cancelling tonight and tomorrow’s shows at Harrah’s Las Vegas due to illness,” the 65-year-old wrote in a statement.
“The health and safety of everyone on stage and attending the show is the number one priority,” the performer added.
Donny has not elaborated on any of the details around the illness, or whether it is him personally who has been taken ill, but he did “apologise” for any inconvenience, telling fans he “appreciated” their understanding.

Distraught fans took to Twitter to express their sorrow and to offer “healing prayers” for the singer, along with a stream of cute kitten and puppy GIFs to make him smile.
@ErinMcGregor77 wrote: “I’m sure you are just as gutted as the fans as you never want to disappoint us. Praying you are better soon. Bless you!”
@LindaT1159 chimed in: “Get well soon Donny, your health comes first always xxx.”
Others added that the show was “worth waiting for” – and indeed, with 65 releases, both as a solo artist and a member of his pop group, his work has proved hugely popular over the years.

His return to the Las Vegas strip had followed an enormously successful stint in the city with sister Marie, which ran at Flamingo for 11 years.
Over the course of his six decade career, Donny has sold more than 100 million albums and is described in official promotional material as a “worldwide musical legend”.
Thanks to his stint with his sister between 2008 and 2019, the Flamingo Hotel even renamed its showroom The Donny and Marie Theatre.
He has since been offering a VIP experience for fans at shows, including “socially distanced photo opportunities”.
Donny, who was known for his close friendships with the likes of Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley, admitted earlier this year to fears about waning popularity.
He told Gold Radio UK: “As popular as I was as the teen idol on those magazines when I grew up… [the public] kind of left me as yesterday’s dinner. I was old stuff.”
Donny added that he felt his 1972 hit ‘Puppy Love’ had jeopardised his career, as he was subsequently stereotyped as an artist appealing almost exclusively to teenagers.
For that reason, he said it wouldn’t be part of his 2023 setlist and that he “wanted to get away from it”, only to be surprised when fans clamoured for it onstage.
He ended up doing a “heavy metal” version of it one night instead, with added “screaming [and] falling on the stage”.
