Eamonn Holmes halts live GB News show after wife Ruth Langsford cheekily calls in to complain

Eamonn Holmes brought GB News to a halt live on air during Wednesday’s show after his wife made a complaint.

The host, 63, was presenting the programme alongside Isabel Webster when Ruth Langsford, also 63, cheekily called in.

As the camera panned back to Eamonn following the weather segment, he could be seen stood behind the desk rather than sat in his seat.

While Isabel giggled he explained: ‘The reason I’m standing up here, is we’ve had a viewer complaint.’

A member of the crew was seen behind him as he continued: ‘Right, Maria, you lower my chair without me falling off and killing myself. But the reason we’re doing this is because a viewer complained.’

Eamonn continued: ‘Her name’s Ms Ruth Langsford. And she’s phoned in to say she doesn’t like the position of my seat.

‘If I fall off…. is it alright? I don’t know. Push me in, Maria. See people think these things happen easily. Is that okay, Ms Langsford? Is that okay?’ he laughed.

Earlier this week, Alison Hammond revealed Eamonn read a speech at her mum Maria’s funeral after her death from liver and lung cancer in 2020.

The This Morning host, 48, explained that her mother was ‘obsessed’ with the broadcaster before her death, and Eamonn gave a ‘lovely’ tribute to her mother.

Speaking to Gyles Brandreth on his new Rosebud podcast, which is released on Friday, Alison said: ‘We gave her the most beautiful funeral.

‘Even Eamonn Holmes came to that, actually. He did a speech, because my mum was obsessed with Eamonn Holmes and I asked him if he’d come.

‘He did a speech, came to the funeral, which was lovely.’

Alison suffered a double tragedy in 2020 when her father Clifford, who lived in Jamaica, passed away just six months after Alison’s mother’s death.

Announcing the sad news her mum had passed away in 2020, the former Big Brother star shared a series of photos of her mum – one of which showed her smiling wearing a yellow top while sitting on a hospital bed.

Alison wrote: ‘I dedicate Valentine’s Day to my beautiful, wonderful Mother Maria who passed away from liver and lung cancer.’

‘Yesterday my family and I celebrated her amazing life and laid her to rest in a beautiful ceremony she would have been proud of.

‘Thank you mummy for giving me the strength to move forward in the knowledge that your ok and with God in Heaven now. I will always remember you and try and make you proud. I love you mum.’
