Family of late JLS dancer share turmoil after death of super ‘fit’ star

Aston Merrygold auditions with JLS on The X Factor 2008

The devastated family of JLS dancer Jack Pointer Mackenzie have admitted they are still battling to come to terms with the tragedy as his cause of death is yet to be revealed.

His father Bren said: “We’ve got an interim death certificate. We’re waiting to hear from the coroner for the full report and with that we will get the cause of death.

“He was a very fit young man. As well as his dancing he was a runner. He did marathons, half marathons. He did yoga, cycling.

“That makes it all the more difficult to process and try to get our heads round.’

“We don’t know how he died but it wasn’t suicide. It doesn’t make any sense,” his mother Mary, added to MailOnline.

They admitted that it could be another seven weeks before they get any answers.

Jack’s body was discovered at his flat in north London on September 1 where he was living alone while waiting for a new flatmate to move in. He was just 35-years-old at the time of his death.

News of the tragedy was revealed when JLS star Aston Merrygold posted a tribute to his friend on social media.

The star, who shot to fame with his fellow JLS band members after competing on the X Factor in 2009, wrote: “RIP Captain. Original JLS team member.”

Talented dancer Jack had toured with the pop group throughout their career from 2009 to 2021.
