Jonnie Irwin hints at return to work sharing ‘behind the scenes’ clip

Jonnie Irwin will be returning to primetime TV tomorrow to make an appearance on BBC’s Escape To The Country.

The former A Place In The Sun presenter will be seen heading down to Somerset to show viewers around “some beautiful locations”.

In an Instagram post uploaded earlier this evening (Sunday, September 24), Jonnie said: “Good news to start the week, there’s a brand new episode of @escape_country airing tomorrow on @bbcone at 3 pm and it’s one of mine!

“I head down to Somerset and look at some fantastic rural properties in some beautiful locations. Plus I also get to visit a cider farm- perks of the job. Hope you enjoy it! #countryside #somerset #cider #rural #property #countryside #bbciplayer #apples.” (Sic)

Fans were immediately delighted with the news as they flooded the comment section with their excitement. One said: “Will be tuned in.”

A second replied: “That’s wonderful news! Glad to hear they are still allowing you to work so you can continue to support your wonderful family financially.”

While a third remarked: “I hoped you would be updating us on Instagram soon and there you are!!! Rosey cheeks and sparkles….. look forward to the programme!”

Yesterday, Jonnie appeared at A Place in the Sun Live in Birmingham, an interactive event of exhibitions, Q&As, seminars, and panel talks across several days.

Jonnie has rarely been spotted in recent months following his cancer diagnosis, which he revealed publicly last November.

The dad-of-three doesn’t know how long he has left to live, although doctors previously didn’t expect him to make it to 2023.

Jonnie first discovered symptoms after his vision started to blur while he was filming for A Place In The Sun.

Within a week of flying home to the UK, he was told by doctors that the cancer had spread to his brain, and he was given six months to live.

“I had to go home and tell my wife, who was looking after our babies, that she was on her own pretty much. That was devastating,” he told Hello!

Jonnie’s episode of Escape To The Country airs on Monday at 3pm on BBC One.
