Kerry Katona heartbroken over death of childhood sweetheart as she pays emotional tribute

Kerry Katona has shared her heartbreak after a friend from her childhood passed away, saying he was the "first boy ever to break my heart" in a touching tribute.

The ex-Atomic Kitten singer, 43, took to Instagram on Friday, 15 December to share the sad news with her followers, saying it had been a "surreal" and "sad" day as she said goodbye to her friend, who she nicknamed 'Deano'.

Kerry posted a photo of her late friend and simply wrote: "RIP," before following up with a message to her fans.

"You'll always be forever in our hearts, sooooo many funny crazy memories we all made together!" she began by writing.

Kerry continued: "As sad as it was saying goodbye to you today, it was so good to catch up with old friends and reminisce about all the funny crazy s*** we all got up to.

"Always in our hearts. What a surreal and sad day, said goodbye today to one of my childhood friends! First boy ever to break my heart 'Deano'."

Referencing her final panto performance as the Wicked Queen in a production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Kerry finished off by adding: "Honestly don't know how the hell I just got through that last show."

Kerry's emotional post comes after she revealed her daughter DJ, nine, was rushed to hospital after months of unexplained bouts of fainting. The mum-of-five, who shared her daughter with the late George Kay, whom she was married to until 2017, was fraught with worry after her little girl became "really poorly".

As a result, Kerry told her followers that she'd had to ditch rehearsals for her latest project so she could stay by DJ's side in hospital. The reality TV star shared a snap of her in a parents' bed next to her daughter, who was resting in a cot-style bed.

"Poor baby girl second day," Kerry wrote over the top of the photo. "Soooo Dj has been really poorly had to leave rehearsals and stay in hospital with her… But she's on mend and hopefully will be home soon."

She then shared a further update on DJ's health in her new column, writing: "It turned out she had really bad influenza, so they had to put her in isolation. I took some days off work to stay with her.

"She’s home now, but nurses are still coming to us to visit. It’s been scary and she’s still full of cold, but she’s on the mend. Ryan is looking after her while I go back to work."
