Monty Don presents Gardeners' World
Monty Don has been inundated with support after sharing a rare post about his “much missed” dog Brenda.
It comes after the BBC shared a sweet photo of Brenda to their Gardeners’ World account on social media site X, formerly known as Twitter.
The pooch never tended to accompany her famous owner on television as Monty often preferred to keep the small canine out of the spotlight.
The star is known for his love of dogs and often offers gardening tips to viewers alongside his two Golden Retrievers Ned and Nellie, while occasionally he is also joined by his Yorkshire Terrier Patti.
Brenda was one of two miniature dachshunds he kept at Longmeadow alongside Peggy. However, he’s previously admitted neither of the animals liked to be filmed for the BBC series.

After a photo of Brenda was used in a new article from the Gardeners’ World official website, Monty addressed the loss of his pet canine.
“Ah lovely picture of Brenda,” the horticulturist penned in a tweet.
“Much missed,” He added.
After spotting his tribute, a number of fans rushed to share their condolences with the Gardeners’ World star.

Nigel used to appear alongside Monty during his segments filmed in Longmeadow for years before his death in 2020.
Monty took to Instagram back in May 2020 to break the news to his followers.
He penned: “I am very sorry to announce that Nigel has died. To the end he was happy, healthy and his usual calm, lovely self.
“But he was suddenly taken ill and he slipped quietly away with no pain or suffering and is now buried in the garden with lots of tennis balls.”
