Jason Orange has been spotted looking handsome with a new buzz cut in a rare sighting of the reclusive former Take That star.
The 53 year old ex singer has lived ‘off-grid’ in his Cotswolds country home since deciding to shun the spotlight 10 years ago. Former bandmates described how he had stopped responding to emails and calls in his bid to stay out of the limelight.
Now pictures have emerged of Jason looking very different to his Take That heyday – sporting his new haircut along with a trendy flat cap. He was photographed on his bike in a pair of shorts and an unbuttoned navy shirt – and looked carefree as he smiled while cycling around London.
In 1990, Jason was one of the founding members of Take That – along with Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Howard Donald and Robbie Williams. The band enjoyed astronomical success throughout the first half of the decade but sensationally split in 1996 – causing heartbreak for millions of fans worldwide.
Almost 10 years later, in 2005, the band officially announced they would be returning – managing to recruit Robbie, who had enjoyed a successful solo career, to help them finish new album Progress. They went on to delight audiences on a sell-out tour but again disbanded.
In 2014, singer-songwriter Gary spearheaded another reunion but despite Howard and Mark agreeing to return, Jason decided he wanted to continue living peacefully with his family away from the limelight. At the time, Jason released a statement which read: "I want to start by saying how proud I am of what we have achieved together over the years. However, at a band meeting last week I confirmed to Mark, Gary and Howard that I do not wish to commit to recording and promoting a new album.
"At the end of the Progress tour I began to question whether it might be the right time for me to not continue on with Take That. At the start of this year and with my full knowledge and blessing the guys began writing new material.
"There have been no fallings out, only a decision on my part that I no longer wish to do this. I know how much Mark, Gary and Howard enjoy writing and making music, and they know that they have my full support and encouragement to continue on with what is to be another chapter for the band."
After leaving the band, Jason ditched the showbiz lifestyle and instead went to the Cotswolds to enjoy a quiet and idyllic life in the countryside. Well known for being private, his bandmate Howard previously revealed that he had cut off contact with the band.
"Jason has gone off the grid,” Howard previously told the Loose Women panel. “He's not taking emails or phone calls or stuff like that. That's good for him.
"That's where he wants to be. I think he wants to be a million miles away from this at the moment."
It is unknown if Jason is single at present but he has enjoyed a string of relationships in the past with some well known names, including Catherine Tate and Jenny Powell.
Jason dated comedian and actress Catherine in 2011 for over a year but after their romance went public, a source explained that it placed a lot of pressure on the couple and forced them to ultimately split.
The insider said: "Jason is a very private person and after it came out that he and Catherine were getting closer together it did affect their relationship.”
