The One Show: Ricky Gervais talks about his taboo jokes

Ricky Gervais has issued an update about his health after falling ill ahead his gig in Birmingham on Monday.

Yesterday, the comedian, 62, was inundated with well wishes after telling fans the grim symptoms he had been suffering from.

In view of his 15 million followers, he wrote: “I was a bit under the weather on stage last night but I got through it. Then I didn’t sleep due to coughing, sweating, shivering. Felt even worse today. Could hardly walk.

“Also, my teeth feel too big for my mouth. What the f*****g Christ sort of symptom is that? Roll on death.”

In a fresh update on Wednesday morning, the comedian announced he was on the mend.

He typed: “Thanks for all your ‘get well soon’ wishes. They worked.

“I feel a lot better today. That’s the last time I eat sweet and sour bat before a gig.”

Many of Ricky’s fans flocked to his post to leave their comments about the positive update.

William Brown wrote: “Glad you’re feeling better Ricky.”

Adam commented: “Good to see you’re at your best again, Ricky!”

“Glad your on the mend!!! Look after yourself,”(sic) added Jason Wilkins.

The Afterlife creator is currently on his Armageddon tour across Europe with gigs scheduled in London, Berlin and Copenhagen.

Due to its success so far, Netflix has bought the rights to his gigs, which will air following the end of the tour.

Earlier this month, he smashed the record for the highest gross for a single stand-up performance ever.

The comedian’s gig in America’s Hollywood Bowl racked up an impressive total of £1,410,000.

His big achievement comes after a report claimed he had increased security following death threats over his anti-woke gags.

After fans sparked concerns over the claim, Ricky set the record straight on his Twitter page.

He simply wrote: “Haven’t increased security. My tour started a year ago. Haven’t had any death threats.

“Apart from that, this story is spot on,” alongside a crying with laughter emoji.
