Sam Thompson insists Zara won’t fall victim to ‘Strictly curse’ despite cheating past

Made In Chelsea star Sam Thompson insists his girlfriend Zara McDermott won't fall into the 'Strictly curse' trap, despite her cheating past.

Sam and Zara briefly split three years ago over her lack of loyalty during X Factor: Celebrities but he is adamant the former Love Islander will stay true to him this time.

Zara, 26, is set to appear on the next series of hit show Strictly Come Dancing. She will be alongside other celebrity contestants such as Susanna Reid, Ellie Leach and Nigel Harman when the show hits our screens again on September 23.

However, in the two decade history of the show there have been a fair few fall into the trap of the 'Strictly curse' which has resulted in nearly 12 couples splitting with current partners outside the show.

But Sam, 31, is sure that Zara will not fall into this curse as he says she was so young when she had her fling with music boss Brahim Fouradi in 2019.

Sam told The Mirror : "She was 22… so f****** young. You know when you look at them and you go, ‘She ain’t going to do that again?’ I could see in her face."

Sam, who co-hosts a podcast called Staying Relevant, has admitted to cheating on partners in the past but has stated he has stayed loyal to the documentary maker Zara.

He said as he has done it before he has learnt to forgive Zara for her transgressions.

At the time of the fling in 2019, Zara addressed her mistakes and said that sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and say you have made a mistake.

She said at the time: "Sometimes you have to be vulnerable and hold your hands up and own your mistakes. You have to say, I messed up and I’m incredibly sorry."

Essex-native Zara will be the first former Love Island contestant to appear on the show after BBC bosses relaxed their ban on reality stars having a spot.

The show has gained a reputation for contestants falling for other their professional dancing partners.

The latest example of this happening is with Bake Off winner John Whaite who confessed to “falling in love” with pro, Johannes Radebe.

Zara had been going out with fellow former Love Island contestant Adam Collard, who has appeared on two series from the villa, before meeting Made In Chelsea's Sam back in 2019.
