Cafe owner issues perfect response to posh Karen's ridiculous demand over £3.50 soup – and other customers are loving it | The Sun

A CAFE customer has revealed the hilarious moment she encountered her first ever "Karen in real life" moment.

Jilly Cross, from Glasgow, had headed to an unnamed cafe in the city's west end on Tuesday when the moaning woman walked in.

Describing the moment on TikTok (@jillyisabella), Jilly said: "So I'm in the wee cafe, I'm waiting to get my soup and Karen walks in.

"Now the cafe is in the area that I live in, Glasgow West End.

"If you're from Glasgow, you know. If you're not from Glasgow, the people that are from here are a wee bit weird, just a wee bit peculiar.

"I think we've got a very saturated area of Karens that live in the West End of Glasgow. No offence if you're from the West End of Glasgow ok, it's a bit peculiar, it's a bit funky.

"So Karen walks in and she goes 'Hello, hi, hello' and she had quite a well to do voice so I knew that she was from the West End.

"And then 'Can I speak to whoever is in charge, please?' She had a wee bit of a condescending smile on so I knew that I was about to get a good show."

Model and influencer Jilly – who's engaged to current Hearts and ex-Rangers star Andy Halliday – revealed it's mostly university students who work in the cafe alongside the owner who she named 'Harry'.

Recounting Karen's encounter with the owner, Jilly said: "Hi Harry, I'm Karen.

"'The thing is, I was in on Saturday there and I'm a very good client for 20 years."

At this point, Jilly joked: "And Harry's not even looking at her. Harry is just making these oat milk lattes. So I got the feeling that this happens a lot to Harry."

The Karen then continued: "I had two soups and took the soups home.

"The thing is, I got the two soups and by the time I got home the soups were luke warm.

"Harry. Harry. The soups were luke warm.

"Now, I'm not putting any pressure on you here. I just wanted to communicate to you that this is what happened, as the person in control of this cafe.

"Now it's up to you, what you want to do here. I'm not pressurising you to do anything here. But what would you like to do?

"I've been coming here for 20 years, I've never had this issue before."

Despite Harry apologising that the soup was luke warm, he told the angry customer she would not be entitled to a refund or a free soup in its place.

"It's not free. I paid for it. That's the issue here. I paid for lukewarm soup", she then fumed.

"I won't be back. And it's a real shame because I have been coming here for 20 years."

Standing in her kitchen with her own soup, Jilly joked: "They were takeaway soups. So, you know, reheat them when you get home.

"Karen is making out as if he's, like, slaughtered her first born."

She added: "In my head I'm thinking these soups were £7 for two soups.

"This happened on Saturday. She made a phone call on Saturday and they told her to come in on Tuesday because that's when Harry would be in.

"And she did. She left her house. She got clothed this morning, and thought, you know what I'm gonna do?

"I'm gonna go to a cafe and try and get however much money,  max £7, for lukewarm soup.

"Just reheat it doll, put it in your microwave. Surely to God."

And with Harry definitely getting the last laugh, Jilly then revealed: "Harry wasn't giving a f*** though. He said joke's on her, the cafe's actually been on for 15 years.

"I thought that's quite funny."

Jilly's "crassy Karen story" has racked up more than 536,000 views, with social media users loving Harry.

One said: "I’ve been told this was in my old place and can confirm ‘Harry’ is the FUNNIEST when dealing with Karens."

A second wrote: "I’m now so invested in the west end of Glasgow, this cafe and its drama."
